Long story short, in the course of interacting with a Romance author on Twitter, I was told that I should reserve my opinions on the Romance genre since I’ve never published a Romance book myself. Does a person need to have experience writing on a subject or within a genre before their opinion can be taken seriously? Or does having a lot of writing experience give you broader insights into writing about all subjects?

On that argument, nobody should express any opinion about tonight’s semifinal between England and Denmark unless they have played in an international football match themselves. Try telling that to millions of fans!
